Dr. Thomas Duff graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 2021. He began his career practicing mixed animal medicine in Marcus, Iowa, where he served the community for nearly four years before returning home to Minnesota.
Raised on a Limousin beef cattle farm near Hampton, MN, Dr. Thomas developed a passion for cattle through 4-H and FFA, where he gained early experience in animal husbandry. He went on to earn his degree in Animal Science/Pre-Veterinary Medicine at the University of Minnesota and was accepted into veterinary school through the VetFAST program. During his training, he completed multiple internships in beef and dairy production, laying the foundation for his career in large-animal medicine.
Dr. Thomas joined Anderson Veterinary Service in the spring of 2025. A member of the American Association of Bovine Practitioners (AABP), his professional interests focus on beef cattle—particularly feedlot and cow/calf operations. He enjoys working with producers to develop management strategies that improve herd health, productivity, and efficiency. Known for his detail-oriented and results-driven approach, he takes pride in providing high-quality, practical veterinary care.
Outside of practice, Dr. Thomas remains active on his family’s cattle operation, working alongside his father and brother. He also enjoys woodworking, carpentry, and other hands-on projects. Above all, he values time with his wife, fellow veterinarian Dr. Kate Mathes, and their young son, whose curiosity and energy keep life full of joy and adventure.
For Dr. Thomas, the most rewarding part of veterinary medicine is partnering with producers to keep cattle healthy and operations thriving.
