Dr. Rachel Friese is a dedicated veterinarian at Anderson Veterinary Service, specializing in large animal care. A proud graduate of the University of Minnesota, Dr. Rachel earned her Bachelor’s degree in 2014, followed by her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 2018. After graduating, she spent two years practicing mixed animal medicine in Eastern South Dakota at Clear Lake Veterinary Clinic before returning to her hometown to focus on large animal medicine.
Since 2020, Dr. Rachel has practiced at Anderson Veterinary Service, where she has become an integral part of the team, providing exceptional care for dairy and beef cattle, with a special focus on reproduction. Her expertise in dairy and beef cattle reproduction is one of her greatest passions, and she enjoys the unique challenges of working with farm animals each day.
Dr. Rachel is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the American Association of Bovine Practitioners (AABP), and the Society for Theriogenology. She is committed to ongoing education and continuously seeks new approaches in both veterinary medicine and surgery to better serve her patients.
Outside of work, Dr. Rachel enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She has a dog named Mildred and a cat named Shasta. Her eight nieces and nephews frequently visit her parents’ dairy farm, where they enjoy helping with the family’s Boer goats. When she’s not at the clinic or on the farm, Dr. Rachel enjoys kayaking, sand volleyball, and evenings around a bonfire.
The most rewarding part of Dr. Rachel’s job is helping animals return to health, particularly through surgery and innovative medical treatments. She thrives in the outdoors, working alongside farmers, and enjoys seeing the variety of working facilities and production systems across the region.
Dr. Rachel’s passion for reproduction medicine, dedication to her patients, and strong ties to her community make her an invaluable part of the AVS team.
